The primal nature of drums can not only determine the movement and mood of a record, it can make or break it. The very frequency at which your drums resonate is essential to your drums having that “pop” or “thump” so desperately sought after by the music industry’s elite and up and coming alike. The key difference is frequency.
Mike Chav is a master of frequency. Over the years, he has learned various techniques of “drum making” from the very best producers and engineers in the game.
Unlike kits offered on other web sites that claim their drums are “mastered” and offer “commercial loudness”, Chav’s drums are better and here’s why:
• Pre-mastered drums utilizing various “plug-in” software essentially “squash” the sound of each drum WAV, killing the transients and causing them to “clip” or overmodulate very easily when further processed to the needs of the song.
• The record your drums are a part of will ultimately go through a mastering process of it’s own, which is where issues of volume should be addressed to obtain ideal sound quality. The production process is NOT the place in the recording timeline to be concerned with how loud your drum sounds are or how loud your record is.
Most online and store bought drum libraries are overmodulated, piercing and distorted. When mixing and mastering it is impossible to “fix” overmodulated drums, unless they are replaced altogether in the mix.
Similarly, it takes someone with great equipment, know-how, lots of time and a trained ear to “BUILD” great drums.
Each Kit sold will have 96 wavs. 24 kicks or booms, 24 snares and claps, 24 hats and shakers and 24 various instruments and sounds such as toms, percussion, FX, etc. The formats are 16bit WAV, KONTAKT, or Battery.
